About The Area
Point Pleasant, bay head, & brick
Rachel spent the summers throughout her childhood vacationing in the Callaghan-Gordon Shore House, located on the Metedeconk River in Brick Township. All the memories that were created throughout those years have ensured that Brick will always hold a special place in Rache'l’s heart.
Point Pleasant Beach also holds many of Rachel’s fond memories, but will soon be the home to the best memory yet! Clarks Landing Yacht Club, where Rachel and Graham will be tying the knot, is located in Point Pleasant, and the Bride- and Groom-to-be are eagerly anticipating the day they can add the big day to their favorite memories.

“For family-friendly beachside fun, it’s hard to beat Point Pleasant Beach.
The expansive beach is kept crystal clean, and the Boardwalk is great for kids (of any age) with dozens of rides along with games of chance, some of the most competitive miniature golf at the beach and Jenkinson’s Aquarium.
All of the required indulgences are offered along the mile-long Boardwalk, including waffles and ice cream, sausage and peppers, popcorn and cotton candy. There are numerous other dining opportunities, from on-the-go to full-service.
Off the Boardwalk, there’s year-round entertainment and dining centered along Arnold Ave., with choices including Uncle Vinnie’s Comedy Club and Spano’s Ristorante Italiano.
And if it’s not beach weather, don’t despair: Point Pleasant Beach is also an antiquers’ delight. Both Bay and Arnold Avenues have a number of spots to hunt for hidden treasures, and the Point Pavilion Antique Centre offers over 40 dealers conveniently located under one roof.” - Visit NJ - Point Pleasant Beach

“Dubbed the “crown jewel” of the strand of beaches that constitute Barnegat Beach Islan: a dazzling rustic haven by the sea, a friendly and elegant but down-home atmosphere for its 1300 permanent residents and scores of visitors alike. There is something special about Bay Head!
Located approximately 70 miles south of New York City, 65 miles east of Philadelphia, 60 miles north of Atlantic City. there is plenty to do all around the Bay Head area. We enjoy the Atlantic Ocean at our front door to the east and to the south we have Barnegat Bay with crabbing, windsurfing, waterskiing, power and sail boating.
Did you know that in 2005 the Borough of Bay Head was formally accepted into the New Jersey State and the Federal Registries of Historic Places. The architecture of the Victorian seaside resort was, and continues to be, exceptional.
A place of quiet casual and yet somewhat elegant, Bay Head is a great place to fly a kite, to bicycle on quiet village streets, to collect seashells and sea glass, to watch the ducks in our wildlife sanctuary, to sit back and enjoy a glorious sunset. You will also find specialty shops, restaurants, and places to stay.
Bay Head is a fun place – well-loved since the late 1800’s by folks who like the good life. Come visit – for a change of pace, any time of year.” - Bay Head "About Our Town"

Manasquan, Brielle, & Sea Girt
This area is the setting for many of Rachel’s childhood memories, from casual summer days spent walking down the boardwalk to Gee Gee’s Arcade with the Gordon Girls, to holiday gatherings with the whole Callaghan family, to every celebration, party, and lazy beach day in between.
Manasquan is home to Graham and Rachel’s favorite bar of all time, Leggetts (A.K.A. Club Leggett - pronounced “Club Leh-zjay” according to several members of the Callaghan clan).
This little beach town, which lies just North of the Manasquan Inlet, above Point Pleasant Beach, is where Graham met the entirety of the extended Callaghan family in one go. The Manasquan/Brielle area has held a special place in the hearts of the Callaghan family for generations.

“Visitors seeking a laid-back getaway will find it at Manasquan, a quaint coastal town that’s long on outdoor recreation and sundrenched beaches.
Angling for some action? Bring your fishing poles and head over to the Fisherman’s Cove Conservation Area on the Manasquan Inlet or head to the Manasquan Reservoir, a 770-acre body of water stocked with large and small-mouth bass, hybrid striped bass, bullhead catfish and tiger muskie. But the Reservoir offers more than a day of fine fishing. Pleasure-seekers can rent boats (or launch their own), hike or bike miles of trails or visit the Environmental Center to learn more about natural wetlands.
Rather just relax with your toes in the sand? Spread out a towel and catch some sun at Manasquan Beach. Or explore the local scene on Main Street, then catch a live theatrical production at Algonquin Arts Theatre.” - Visit NJ - Manasquan
“Manasquan was first settled as part of Shrewsbury in the late 1600’s. It takes its name “Man-A-Squaw-Han” (stream of the island of Squaws) from the Lenni Lenape Indians who were summer visitors to the area for hundreds of years. Incorporated as a borough on December 30, 1887 by the New Jersey Legislature, Manasquan was formed from portions of Wall Township.
Today, Manasquan is a town of just under 6,000 residents who enjoy both the benefits of modern life and the simplicity of an earlier era.
Occupying an area of just 2.5 sq. miles, all of Manasquan's amenities are easily within reach of residents and visitors without the necessity of a car. Manasquan's proximity to a number of popular Jersey Shore beaches causes its population to swell dramatically during the summer months. With numerous summer rental accommodations, nearby hotels, motels, and bed & breakfast inns, visitors are sure to find just the right place to stay while enjoying a Manasquan getaway.” - Manasquan Chamber of Commerce
Spring Lake & Belmar
North of the Manasquan and Sea Girt areas, Belmar and Spring Lake offer even more coastal beauty. Check out their serene boardwalks and beaches, or explore the areas to admire the stunning homes and cozy bed & breakfasts!

“Spring Lake is a small beach resort town where visitors can become immersed in serenity and sophistication.
A summer getaway for barons of industry in the mid-1800s, Spring Lake has retained much of the exclusive aura of its Victorian heyday. Simple pleasures await in the form of two miles of sparkling beach, upscale dining and deep relaxation. (If you’re craving the bustling crowds of a popular boardwalk, Asbury Park is less than six miles North.)
Spend a weekend – or a week – in one of the charming properties that make up the Historic Inns of Spring Lake. Head to the boardwalk – a pristine and peaceful promenade without any neon, bells or whistles. Join in the fun at an annual festival. Catch a live performance at the Community House Theatre. Hit the Downtown Shopping District for trendy boutiques and eateries. And get back in touch with nature on the sandy beach or in Divine Park.” - Visit NJ - Spring Lake

“Belmar was voted in 2014, the #1 beach in Central Jersey in the Top Ten Beaches Competition, and #6 in all of New Jersey and prides itself on having clean, safe and fun beaches for families of all kinds.
Our beaches are home to the most colorful and fun beach playgrounds in New Jersey. In addition to this series of playgrounds every few blocks, several of our beaches are devoted to activities like boogie boarding, kayaking and surfing. We even offer a surf camp at 3rd Ave. Beach, where kids of all ages can take surfing lessons. For older beachgoers who prefer dry land activities, several of our beaches are equipped with poles for volleyball nets.
Our boardwalk has been completely revamped and replaced with Trex-a composite material made of wood and plastic fibers that eliminates the possibility of getting a splinter. It's a wonderful place to walk, jog, people-watch or just relax and enjoy the Ocean views.” - Visit NJ - Belmar

Mantoloking, Lavallette, & Seaside
These small boroughs are part of the Barnegat Peninsula, which is nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and Barnegat Bay.
The Mantoloking and Lavallette Boroughs are quaint, scenic, and overall quite serene. Both boroughs are lovely for spending summers at the shore with the family. The waterfront homes within these areas are designed with a northeast, coastal touch, and many boast extensive square footage.
South of Lavallette, the setting shifts from serenity to excitement and fun upon entering Seaside Heights. For decades, Seaside Heights and Seaside Park have been common family destinations with several amusement parks such as the ever-popular Casino Pier, Funtown Pier, and Breakwater Beach Waterpark. In addition to the many family-friendly options available, Seaside offers a high-energy nightlife scene.
While Seaside’s notoriety began almost a century ago, with the opening of Casino Pier in 1932, the borough achieved a new level of fame and a widespread reputation in 2009. Can you guess why??
That’s right, folks. MTV’s reality TV hit series, Jersey Shore, first aired in 2009 and was filmed in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. The show quickly swept the nation and alerted everyone that the entire state of New Jersey looked, acted, and partied like the infamous eight housemates, who are actually almost all from New York.
The Barnegat Peninsula also received the spotlight in the Fall of 2012. These areas received nationwide news coverage shortly after Hurricane Sandy made landfall in New Jersey. Some of the most highly-circulated images of the storm’s aftermath depicted scenes such as the severely damaged east end of the Mantoloking Bridge submerged in the Barnegat Bay, various decimated homes along the Peninsula, and the Star Jet roller coaster, which had fallen into the Atlantic Ocean along with the collapse of a large portion of Casino Pier.

“Lavallette is located on a barrier island with the Atlantic Ocean on the east and Barnegat Bay on the west side.
Bask in the sun on our pristine beach, walk the boardwalk, sit in the pavilions to enjoy the view and ocean breezes. Surf fish or surfboard in the waves of the Atlantic Ocean.
On the bayside, enjoy the Children’s smoke-free beach and playgrounds or go crabbing off the dock, play tennis, bocce and shuffleboard on the municipal courts.
Enjoy sailing, power boating or kayaking in the calm waters of the bay. Sit back and relax at the concerts at the Gazebo on Sunday nights or family movies on Tuesday, Family Fun Nights with free beach treasure hunt and kites and castle on the beach during the summer months. Sunsets at the bay are breathtaking.” - Enjoy Lavallette - Lavallette Business Association

“This coastal destination packs lots of action into its 16-by-4-block beachside setting, drawing crowds with its whirl of fast-paced activity.
The boardwalk here is one of the busiest at the Shore, thanks to a lively amusement pier, a water park, wall-to-wall arcades and souvenir shops.
Fun seekers also have their pick of casual eateries. At the Seaside Park end of the boardwalk, you’ll find The Sawmill where you can dine on jumbo pizza, handhelds, shareable snacks and seafood. While full-service restaurants like Hemingway’s, Drifters and Klee’s Bar & Grill line the Boulevard.
Summertime brings free seaside entertainment, including fun festivals and weekly fireworks displays. Plan a stay at one of the town's accommodations. Of course, many popular events take place here year-round, including the rollicking St. Patrick’s Day parade and the annual Polar Bear Plunge, where intrepid swimmers dive into the icy Atlantic in winter to raise money for the Special Olympics.” - Visit NJ - Seaside Heights
